The Best Robot Hoover
The most effective robot hoover will clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as dirt detector) are both positives.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They have motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept at cleaning hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and operates while you are at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, however it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. It did a decent cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different flooring types including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxy units, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and a little more cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty those areas tend to be.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home via the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you have a lot furniture. Finally a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd imagine from its price. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
best budget robot vacuum is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
